Hemoglobin (Hgb) is responsible for transporting oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body. I’ve been doing some research & found the following information particularly interesting:

  • Hgb levels are elevated in children & older people

  • Hgb decreases slightly during a normal pregnancy

  • On average, levels of Hgb are highest around 8:00am & lowest around 8:00pm. I thought that this observation was pretty cool!

  • Living in high altitudes increases the amount of hgb, because decreased oxygen levels prompts the body to produce more red blood cells.
  • Do you have to be a nerd to appreciate this? : )
