Road trip, days 1 & 2

Greetings from North Platte, Nebraska, home of my dear friend Caitlin Walter (and Buffalo Bill) and the endpoint to our second day of driving. So far, mom and I are having a great time.
We left around 8:00am on Saturday morning, which is pretty early for a second shifter! Almost half of the miles on the first day were spent rolling through the hills of Pennsylvania. Our home state is gorgeous! I love the drive between Allentown and Pittsburgh.  Ohio is really nice, too. My favorite thing about Ohio is that there are lots of little lakes flanking the highway where people can be seen playing on jet skis, boating, and fishing. Anthony and I often dream of having a boat -- we love water sports! Ohio and Indiana went by pretty quickly & we settled into Bolingbrook Illinois for the night. We traveled 733 miles on the first day.
Yesterday was a nice day, too. We’ve been really blessed with good weather & relatively little traffic. Passing through Illinois, the land is really flat & on a day with good visibility, you can see for miles. It’s just beautiful. Crossing Iowa, I was impressed by the lovely rolling hills. The best part of the day, however, was arriving in North Platte Nebraska & spending a few hours with Caitlin and her boyfriend, Todd. I love you, Cait! Thanks for letting me visit with you guys.

Here are some of our more memorable moments / quotes so far:

On Monday, I was going through the I-Zoom (the equivalent of the Easy Pass in PA) and had to slow down so much that someone getting a ticket passed me.

Me: "You’re parked in two spots!"
Mom: "Oh really? ’Cause you were driving"

Mom: "Oh! Look at the miniature horses... oh, wait, they aren’t miniature, they’re just far off"

Mom: "I took a round trip from South Dakota to Boston and back.. wait, that’s what a round trip is."

Heidi and I were running in some long grass & she got pretty far ahead of me, so I ducked and hid from her. When she couldn’t see me, she started jumping in attempt to see over the grass. It was so cute.
