Anthony recently posted a really great summary of our trip to Gore Mountain. After several months of procrastinating, here are the photos! Unfortunately, Anthony and I both got sick on this trip, but we still had a really nice time. It snowed basically non-stop from the day we arrived through our second (& last) day of skiing. As a result, the ski conditions were awesome, but it wasn't great for taking pictures. The photos of the mountain were actually taken on the way out of town because it was the first day we could actually see anything of the top from the base.
As Anthony noted in his post, we stayed at the Adirondack Alpine Lodge in North Creek, New York. The lodge itself was really beautiful and extremely well taken take of. Anthony and I were both very impressed with the rustic decor & cleanliness. The first couple of photos are of our room there.
North Creek was basically a ghost town during our stay. We ate in several of the town's restaurants and saw very few other tourists (though the slopes had a fair share of skiers and boarders). Speaking of restaurants, Anthony and I agreed that Lorenzo's, an Italian restaurant inside the Copperfield Inn, was one of the best places we'd ever eaten. If you ever get to North Creek, check it out!
Last bot not least, our skiing experience at Gore Mountain was really good. Our timing for the trip couldn't have been better. It was apparently a slow year for snow at Gore and we arrived at the beginning of the biggest storm of the season. We enjoyed two nice (really wet) powder days!
All in all, it was a great trip, but once we move to Colorado, we probably won't come back to Gore to ski. : )
