Words are Powerful, Please Handle with Discretion

(un)kind

comment

(this is a little song i wrote a few months ago..)

do you think me unkind
for breaking the tie
that held us both
on a path of total devastation?
do you think i was scared
when i fled from there (well, i was)
but hope for a future was my real motivation.

i’m not so unkind.
it’s just not that simple.
see, i could never live in a box on your shelf
you were always so blind
to the hurt you inflicted
now it’s time to take care of myself
and that’s not so unkind.

do you know how it felt
to give you all of myself
within the constraints of what God had set before us?
do you know how it hurt
when you took away my worth
chasing after everything in sight?

i’m not so unkind.
it’s just not that simple.
see, i could never live in a box on your shelf
you were always so blind
to the hurt you inflicted
now it’s time to take care of myself
and that’s not so unkind.

love is patient, love is kind
but love is also not self-seeking.
