Cades Cove is a 10.5 mile biking / driving path nestled in Smoky Mountain National Park. When we started talking to people about visiting the Gatlinburg area, this was one of the places that everyone said we had to visit.
During our ride, we saw a deer and a small fawn (which we didn't stop to photograph) as well as two adult bears and four cubs. It's amazing to see so much wildlife just off the side of the road!
A few photos at the end of this set were taken on the drive from Cades Cove back to our cabin. Anthony wanted to jump in the creek and cool off after our bike ride. The very last photo was taken on the drive up to Clingman's Dome where we hoped to watch the sunset on Tuesday evening. Unfortunately, it was really cloudy when we arrived at the parking lot & other tourists told us that the visibility was basically zero at the top, so we didn't proceed to the look out. The most amazing thing about Clingman's Dome was that the temperature dropped twenty degrees as we drove up the mountain to the summit! I was really glad I wore jeans and a sweatshirt!
