New Found Glory --
comment / @ 09:16pm

This song is so close to my heart. I heard it for the first time while I was driving to work, shortly after Anthony and I purchased New Found Glory’s latest CD, Coming Home (Check it out! The whole album is great). When I got home from work, I opened up the cd cover and read this:

"Chad would like to thank his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ... I also want to dedicate the song  ’When I die’ to my best friend and my hero. My father, Marvin Frank Gilbert, who died of an unexpected heart attack on October 2, 2004... I am no longer afraid to die because I have my father there waiting for me on the other side. When I die, I’m alright because I know you’re there. We love you and miss you always."

I was so touched by this; I miss my own dad so much and am so thankful for this beautiful song and it’s heartfelt words.

Lyrics:
Now I have finally accepted
We will never stand in the same room
I can never hear your voice of reason
At least you didn’t, didn’t feel a thing

When I was younger you would tell me
That I should wait to grow up
That things don’t go always as planned
At least you didn’t, didn’t feel a thing

No you didn’t didn’t have to feel a thing
No you didn’t feel

When I die I’ll be fine
Cause I know you’re always there
When I die I’m alright
Cause I know you’ll be there
You are home

Now I’m standing at a crossroad
Don’t know which path is calling me
I wanna follow in your footsteps
So you know you’re never alone

No you didn’t have to feel a thing
No you’re never alone

I’m still here but I’m waiting
For our long conversations
I’m still here but I’m waiting to go home

No you didn’t didn’t have to feel a thing
You are home.
