"Forget fear; worry about the addiction"
| replyAllison has been talking about trapeze swinging in Baltimore for a few years & we finally got to go this weekend.
We left around noon on Saturday & drove down to the Inner Harbor. Our intention was to visit the aquarium, but the dolphin shows were all finished for the day, so we decided to spend the evening shopping. I don’t often get to shop with a friend, so this was a treat for me. After dinner at PF Changs, we enjoyed a little bit more shopping, & then retired to our hotel. We watched "Made of Honor," and chatted for a while before calling it a night.
Sunday, we got up and prepared for our flying lessons. : ) There isn’t too much to learn for your first trapeze experience. The instructors teach you to use the momentum of the swing to get your legs up over the bar & how to dismount at the end of the trick. It wasn’t as high as I’d expected, but the most difficult part was still taking the first careful step off of the platform.
At the end of my first turn, I felt completely inebriated (which is a new feeling for me) -- the adrenaline rush was really amazing.
Unfortunately, our lesson was cut short by some powerful thunderstorms that blew into the harbor. My understanding is that the next part of our lesson would be to try a "catch" with one of the instructors. I definitely hope to try that next time. : )
Allie and I finished off our trip with lunch in the harbor & one last stop by the plaza shops.
The only pictures we took on this adventure were of trapeze swinging; you can check them out here.
Thanks for a great time, Allie. : ) We’ll definitely have to do this again!
